7 Days in the Canadian Rockies

The Canadian Rockies – Lake Louise, Jasper, and Banff
August/September 2016

When our friends Bridget and Chris invited us to come along on their 7 day trip to the Canadian Rockies, we jumped at the change to cross a big trip off our bucket list. Having just canceled our hiking trek to Machu Picchu (darn Zika and trying to get pregnant!), I was down in the dumps and Joe thought this would be a good “make-up trip” for the two of us to take.

To avoid a monster post, I’ll blog about this trip in sections, but here’s our overall trip itinerary and highlights to start:

Day One: ATL – YYC / Overnight at Fairmont Palliser
Highlights: Downtown Calgary, steak dinner, Fairmont lounge
Day Two: Calgary to Lake Louise / Overnight at Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise
Highlights: Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise, the view of Lake Louise and Victoria Glacier, hike to Lake Agnes Tea House
Day Three: Lake Louise to Jasper National Park / Overnight at Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge
Highlights: CanoeingĀ at Lake Louise, driving the Icefields Parkway, walking onto Athabasca Glacier
Day Four: Full day in Jasper
Highlights: Sulpur Skyline hike, Maligne Lake cruise to Spirit Island, exploring downtown Jasper
Day Five: Jasper to Banff National Park / Overnight at Fairmont Banff Springs
Highlights: Athabasca Falls, Fairmont Banff Springs
Day Six: Full day in Banff
Highlights: Johnston Canyon, downtown Banff, dinner at The Bison
Day Seven: Banff to Calgary / YYC – ATL
Goodbye Canada! šŸ˜¦

[Edit] Day-by-day trip itineraries are now posted!

Also, here’s an OCD list of what I packed for this trip (and recommend for similar outdoorsy vacations)!
